Luke Littler slams his knee in frustration as costly mistake sees the 17-year-old narrowly lose to G

Luke Littler was seen fuming after a costly mistake saw him suffer defeat to Gerwyn Price in a thrilling Premier League Darts quarter-final clash on Thursday night.

It seemed the pressure took it’s toll on both players towards the end of the match, with both making mistakes when it counted.

At 5-4 up, Price left a match-dart on the board, giving Littler a life-line to send the game to a deciding leg. But Price’s experience showed, with the Welshman bouncing back to capitalise on a misthrow from his opponent to win 6-5.

Frustrated by his mistake, Littler was seen slamming his hands against his knee in anguish as he walked up to the oche to collect his darts, realising that Price had another chance to take the match.

This time, Price made no mistake. He closed out the game a 13-dart hold and let out a huge roar in elation.

He’ll now take on Humphries in the semi-final of night three, with Littler and Price now level on five points at third and fourth place in the standings.

The Welshman had taken an early lead in the clash at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, breaking Littler with a bullseye. He immediately turned towards the Warrington-based darts sensation and yelled in elation.

But the 17-year-old wasn’t phased by going behind. He quickly recovered to win the next two legs, after the Welshman missed a shot at bullseye.

The game continued at a riproaring pace, with Littler missing a shot at double 20 to give Price a chance to win the leg. He wouldn’t miss, hitting a double 12 to put himself back on level footing. The pair would trade blows before the tide would turn in the 2021 World Champion’s favour.

The Welshman took the lead to go 5-4 up and had a chance to close out the match, missing a throw at tops to win. The decider was equally as enthralling, with Littler agonisingly just missing out on the win.

Despite having stormed to stardom this year, Littler was furious at his own mistake and was seen walking off the stage shaking his head in frustration at the loss.

Despite the defeat, it’s been a busy week for the 17-year-old, who booked his place in his place at his first-ever European Tour event at next month’s Belgian Darts Open and also pocketed himself £15,000 on Monday after winning the Players Championship.

Despite that, it's been a busy week for the 2024 World Championship finalist, who booked his place in his first European Tour event this week

Littler had previously enacted revenge against PDC World Championship winner Luke Humphries on Night One of the Premier League Darts circuit, before besting Michael Smith 6-5 in another close encounter.

He continued to pick up points on Night Two, defeating Rob Cross and Humphries again, before being beaten by the three-time World Champion, Van Gerwen.

Earlier in the night, Humphries staged an excellent comeback to defeat Nathan Aspinall, winning five legs on the spin after his opponent had missed a chance at a nine-darter.
